BROTHERíS KEEPER 2005

People in Jackson County, West Virginia need some work done. Somebody needs their trailer washed and painted. Somebody needs a new deck to be built leading from the house to the street. Others need dry wall installed, while many need a new roof. Who will be meeting all of these needs? The answer may surprise you. The youth groups of the West Virginia Baptist Convention during the "Brotherís Keeper 2005" Mission Project in Ripley, WV.

As you may already know, six youth and one adult will be attending the Brotherís Keeper mission project this July from the First Baptist Church Weston. The youth are Steven Gower, Kyle Grose, Mallory Miller, Jake Rowan, Megan Heater, and Angel Petrone. The adult will be your Pastor, of course. I have a special request for you the congregation. That request is to pray for us and the entire mission project. Go ahead and put these names on your refrigerator, door or prayer journal. Lift us up to God each and every day as the mission trip approaches and during the event itself.

The Bible says that with much prayer many good things can be accomplished.  It also says that the prayer of a rightous person produces wonderful results. But what should you specifically pray for ?

Here are a few things that come to mind.

Pray that we will have safe travel to the conference center and back. (Ripley, WV)

Pray that the youth will use their special skills and talents to minister to the needy and less fortunate.

Pray that during times of hard work and stress that the youth will persevere and not give up.

Pray that new and wonderful relationships will be made through people working together to achieve a common goal.

Pray that the evening sessions will help youth accept Christ and to also rededicate their lives to him.

Pray that the youth will bring a new zest and zeal for Jesus back to share with the First Baptist and to the people of Weston.

I know that if you pray, great things will be experienced and realized. In fact, Iím praying right now that you will pray. I wonder what great blessings God has in store for us all?!

- In His Service, Ken
