Our American Baptist Women’s Ministries have shown their "Blessing Blitz" in their involvement with various mission programs.
One of the mission programs is supporting the Weirton Christian Center, Weirton, WV. The ABW recently invited Kim L. Weaver, Executive Director of the Weirton Christian Center to speak on "Women’s Day" held October 21st. She is dedicated to providing a stron foundation to the children of the community . . . by meeting their spiritual, physical and emotional needs. Kim and the ABW expressed gratitude during the service toward our church’s involvement in collecting school supplies for the Center’s After-school Program, Quarters for Good Grades, and the Pre-school Program.
Kim stated that the Center has compiled a "Wish List" to help fulfill their plans to GROW and reach more children than ever! Pamplets are provided in the bulletin racks to participate. The work of the Center is funded through the United Way, the Board of National Ministries, American Baptist Convention, churches, and individuals throughout the United States. It is one of only twenty Christian Centers throughout the country.
Kim Weaver recently sent us a card saying, "Thank you so much for the great bunch of school supplies and your generous offering of $150.00! I really appreciate the opportunity to share the work of the Christian Center with your congregation. And I am thankful for the personal expense help. Thank you for your ongoing support and prayers."
