Mission News
FBC American Baptist Women (ABW) invites all church ladies to join them in their efforts to carry out various mission projects. Circle 3 meets at 7 pm on the second Monday of each month and Lisa Simmons Circle meets at 12 noon on the second Tuesday.
Lisa Simmons Circle recently delivered 87 Campbell soup wrappers and 98 Box Tops to the Rosenbaum Family House at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Since this is an on-going project, they ask that you continue to contribute to this worthy cause. Soup season is fast approaching! Just remember to cut those wrappers as you enjoy your bowl of Campbell’s soup when those cold winds howl and the snow flurries fly.
Rosenbaum Family House has invited our church to be part of their first cookbook. They are looking for special recipes for the cookbook which will be available in May 2009. The recipe submittal deadline is February 20, 2009. To submit a recipe and/or purchase a cookbook, please contact the Rosenbaum Family House at 304-598-6094 extension 3 or e-mail likinssu@wvuh.com. The cost of the cookbook is $16 and all proceeds benefit the Rosenbaum Family House.
A mission project closer to home are local thrift stores. We have Our Neighbor right here in Lewis County and the Clarksburg Mission in Harrison County. Both provide a valuable service to local residents.
The Clarksburg mission also has provisions to house homeless individuals as well as families until they can become self-sufficient. They have a thrift store where used items are sold to provide for the expenses of the shelter, and they also recycle used clothing that is considered beyond usage. They bundle and sell for a small fee so they can take any clothing that is torn, worn, and tattered.
If you have any such items, just bring them in and members of ABW Circle 3 will transport them on to Clarksburg.
