News from Samaritan’s Purse

Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world.  Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Franklin Graham, son of Rev. Billy Graham, serves as President and CEO of Samaritan’s Purse.  Under his leadership, Samaritan’s Purse has met needs of poor, sick, and suffering people in more than 100 countries, including the United States.

More recently  relief teams have been dispatched to the Southwest along the Gulf Coast to assist residents dealing with the devastation of hurricanes that have devastated those coastal regions.

Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God’s love.  Since 1993, more than 61 million shoe boxes have been packed, shipped, and delivered across the globe.  People of all ages can be involved in this simple, inexpensive mission project that carries the message of God’s love to millions of children that might not otherwise hear the Gospel.

FBC has participated in Operation Christmas Child shoe box gifts for several years.  This year our goal is 150 shoe boxes and enclosed with this newsletter is an insert with some helpful information.   Also, we have volunteers that will pack boxes for anyone who prefers just to purchase the gifts and bring them in.   We will have the boxes and paper here at church.

Also, this year our church has committed to be a Relay Center for the shoe boxes.   That means local churches and organizations can bring their boxes to us during National Collection Week, and we will then transport them on to the Collection Center in Morgantown.
