Broad Run Youth Rally @ First Baptist Church

WOW! What can I say, the Broad Run Association youth rally concert at our church this past month was amazing and invigorating. The turnout was more than expected with over 150 youth in attendance. Overall the concert was a huge success. High profile bands like Attaboy, Hello Kelley, & white hip hop personality Heath McNease gave awe-inspiring performances. Attaboy was my favorite because their music was toned down a lot more than Hello Kelley whose music was quite intense—even prompting some older folks who came to leave. One favorite song from Attaboy was “California”. Hello Kelley had to leave right after their performance to go to Nashville, TN to do interviews and autograph signings. I think this was the first time a concert this huge has ever been held at our church. Yes, the groups were not what older senior members of the church would expect but they were Christian groups with a Christian message.

In today’s times to get our youth out to church groups like these who carry an intense message through music must be used. It is unfortunate but that it the reality. The music was just in a rock hop & roll format. The opportunity for redemption was given and a few youth did decide to accept Christ in their lives at our church. Rick Garovogila, Minister of Youth at SimpsonCreekBaptistChurch in Bridgeport gave an inspiring message to the youth of the association. We deeply appreciate our church members who assisted in helping set up for the concert and tearing down. Amos Caley, lead singer of Attaboy extends his thanks to all our church members who assisted in getting the band out of the church quickly that night and on the way back home to Indiana for a three day break from the ROCK HOP & ROLL tour. We also truly appreciate our CE Board for their help in organizing and preparing the concert for the association.
