From the Secretary:

As previously announced, I recently accepted the position of secretary.   To smooth the transition, I felt that a proper introduction is in order and would like to take the time to tell everyone a bit about myself.

I have been a member of the First Baptist Church for approximately 12 years but, have attended  since the early 1980’s.  Not only have I held various positions on boards and committees but, I have also volunteered for  the prayer chain, extended session, children’s chat, and crib room, and have had the pleasure of teaching Sunday school and will continue to do so.

My family is my pride and joy, as I have been blessed with four wonderful children, nine beautiful grandchildren, and two sweet great-grandchildren.  My husband, Randal Rogers, Sr. passed away in 1998.

When my youngest child graduated from high school and went off to college, I tagged along.   After just three years I graduated, earning a degree in Business Education with a minor in Library Science.  In 1997, after teaching for 6 years, I was hired by Fairmont State College (now University) as Librarian at Clarksburg Center (now Caperton Center).  I transferred to the Lewis County Center shortly before my retirement in December of 2006.

I have enjoyed my first few weeks in this position.  My goal as secretary for First Baptist Church  is to serve my Lord and Savior by thoroughly fulfilling the duties of the position to the best of my abilities.

God has granted me good health and the opportunity for early retirement, and now I count it a privilege to be able to spend more time in His service.  He has brought me through many valleys in my adult life, and I am so thankful that He has always been there for me to lean on.  I understand the author of the  poem “Footsteps” when he questioned God about only one set of foot prints in the sand and God replied, “That was when I carried you.”

So many times I have relied on Romans 8:28 for my strength.  And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”   I know He is a loving God and takes care of His children.

Please feel free to stop by the office or call with concerns,  requests, etc.  Regular hours are 9 am to 12 noon or you may call me at home at  269-7509.
