A Sunday Afternoon with the Dove Brothers

Trip Report

Sunday with the Dove Brothers

The announcement was made in the church bulletin that the Dove Brothers were coming to our own American Mountain Theater in Elkins, July 19; interested persons may sign up; transportation provided.
Now have you been there? Have you heard of this group? The most I heard was “No” to both questions. So, next question, who is going?

Sunday, July 19, after worship service we board the van. I look about and note there are five folk including the driver. Quantity is not there, but quality, Yes! Namely, besides myself, Becky, Joanne, Maxine, and the driver, Leonard.

The weather was pleasant. The beautiful mountain range appeared in the blue yonder, a scene a trip to the “Hi Country” always offers. The chatting in the van is light-hearted and interesting. We arrived in Elkins, located the Theater, found Bob Evans and ate, then back to the Theater just in time for the program to start.

The Dove Brothers is a group of five Christian men all fathers, grandfathers, except one and he had a special dog. They presented a program of gospel hymns and music with such vigor, energy, passion, and enthusiasm that the audience of near 500 folk felt the electric current it generated.

It was a worthwhile, 2-hour event, and we thank the church for the transportation and another opportunity to broaden our horizons.
