The Resurrection

THE RESURRECTION

Paul, I have always liked that name. Why it is the name of my older brother who lives in St. Charles, Illinois. Often times when I feel low, I think of my brother, Paul, and then I feel better. I guess you could say we have a common bond between us. We are brothers, we are family, we share the same beginning in life.
In the Bible, I also share a bond with then Apostle Paul. And this bond sure makes me feel better as well, much better, because I believe what he believed. He believed in a glorious life after death – the “Resurrection.”
Paul the Apostle, what a man he was and is. I say is, because I believe he is alive in heaven today. What made him such a great witness for Christ?  Why go through all the things he went through? Why take so many journeys to unknown lands and unknown people? Why? Why didn’t he give up and say “when the going gets tough, it’s time to do something else?” I think I know why. And you do, too. THE RESURRECTION OF THE LORD JUSUS CHRIST.
Look at this passage from the Bible in I Corinthians 15:4  “And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.” If Paul could come down and talk to us today, he might say something like this from Kenneth W. Osbeck’s, 52 Bible Characters, “The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. This has been my testimony ever since that day on the Damascus Road when I was dramatically changed by God. Now the sole passion of my life is to know personally the resurrected Christ and to proclaim His life-changing message to others.”
And here is what he may have said to Ceasar: “So I am to die at last! I am not afraid of  death, Ceasar. I have long prepared for this moment.” We at First Baptist Church of Weston invite you to come this month as we dwell on the INCREDIBLE. The INCREDIBLE fact of Jesus Christ’s resurrection. And because He was raised, so shall all of us who believe.
(See John 3:16)

 With Confidence,
