"SAINTS REVEALED"

Posted on Tue, Jul 31, 2007

My name is Anthony W. Each year I look forward to attending camp. Camp Cowen has always been my favorite but, this year I had the opportunity to attend Brother’s Keeper and what a blessing. The most enjoyable part is being able to go help others, and to see their heartfelt smiles, and know what I have done has made a difference in their life. We worked, laughed, and made time for conversation with the people we were helping. Despite the hot weather, no one complained. The hardest part was when all the work was done. We had to say our good-byes to the ones we helped. A lady gave me a hug and whispered in my ear and said "The next time I see you will be in heaven on a beach and we will watch the rest of the evening." I look forward to next year’s Brother’s Keeper and would encourage all youth to attend.

Mallory M. also reports her experience at Brother's Keeper.  We worked for six hours each day in the blazing sun.  Who likes to work during the summerin 98 degree weather?

I guess the youth of the First Baptist Church of Weston do.  There was a wide variety of jobs to be done.  Hillsides were moved, houses were painted, decks were constructed and homes remodeled.  After much hard work a total of 36 jobs were completed.  Not only that, but 26 families in Jackson County were served.

At night time we enjoyed many different activities.  We swam in the pool, took hikes, slid down on a big piece of plastic and played trivia games.  We also sang spiritual and inspirational at the campfire.  Although we enjoyed our week, we also appreciated coming home.  Now we can get some rest for the hours we missed!-Mallory
