Appreciation from the Rogers Family

PRAYER WORKS!

Nancy Rogers extends thanks to everyone for their prayers and expressions of concern for her grandson, Wesley, who had a kidney transplant on May 11 at the Atlanta Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Georgia. The transplant was a success and the doctors were very pleased with Wesley’s recovery. His mother, Sharry, donated her kidney and she also is recuperating very well. Grandma Nancy and Uncle Steve were in Atlanta for the surgeries.

Wesley was born with both kidney and bladder dysfunction’s and had his first transplant at the age of 14 months in Charleston, SC. His father, Randy, donated at that time. The doctors told them at that time that he was a miracle child because they never expected him to survive. He is now 15 and was a very active child because they never expected him to survive. He is now 15 and was a very active child until this past winter when he again experienced kidney failure.

Wesley and his parents have been very active with the Kidney Foundation of east Tennessee where they have spent many hours in public service to raise awareness of the importance of organ donation. Among his accomplishments are commercials, billboards, poster, bookmarks, etc. One of the highlights of his public service career was making a commercial at the University of Tennessee football field with head coach Phil Fulmer, and had still shots on billboards in East Tennessee. He and his father spent a day with the team during practice.

Wesley’s life is a good example of Romans 8:28. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Wesley never complains nor fuses about his illness. He has a cheerful attitude and a great sense of humor.

Many members of our church family have been very faithful to remember Wesley throughout this time and his family is very appreciative.
